I am writing as a Maryland resident deeply concerned about the escalating federal overreach targeting our state. In just the past few months, the Trump administration has:
• Withheld over $400 million in planned school reimbursements, destabilizing local districts.
• Denied FEMA disaster aid for catastrophic flooding in Western Maryland.
• Pulled $330 million in transportation funding, threatening jobs and critical infrastructure.
• Threatened to deploy federal forces and override Governor Wes Moore’s authority to control the Maryland National Guard.
These are not isolated policy choices — they are deliberate acts of political punishment against Maryland for refusing to bow to authoritarian demands.
We need our congressional delegation to take urgent action:
1. Block unconstitutional federal troop deployments into Maryland without the governor’s consent.
2. Secure emergency funding for schools, transit, and flood recovery that has been unjustly denied.
3. Investigate the political weaponization of federal aid against states based on partisan loyalty.
4. Stand with Governor Moore and our state leaders to ensure Marylanders are not used as pawns in an authoritarian power grab.
Our state must not become the next testing ground for martial law. I urge you to use every legislative and oversight tool available to protect Marylanders, safeguard our democracy, and stop these escalating abuses of power before they spread nationwide.
We are counting on you to defend Maryland and to hold the line.
