The proposed budget cuts to critical programs like Medicaid, and SNAP (food assistance) in order to finance tax breaks for the wealthy are deeply concerning. These proposals endanger the health and well-being of millions of Americans who rely on these essential safety net programs. At a time of rising costs for basic necessities, slashing funding for vital assistance will only exacerbate hardship for vulnerable populations. Furthermore, increasing the deficit by trillions through tax cuts skewed towards the richest individuals and corporations is fiscally irresponsible. This approach risks ballooning the national debt while failing to provide meaningful, broad-based economic benefits. I urge you to reject this reckless budget resolution that jeopardizes both the physical and fiscal health of our nation. Instead, I ask that you prioritize policies that uplift all Americans, protect the social safety net, and promote fiscal responsibility in order to secure a more equitable and sustainable future. Privileging the wealthiest few at the expense of crucial public programs that millions depend on is unacceptable.
