Veto SB 153
To: Gov. Stein
From: A constituent in Weaverville, NC
June 17
I am writing to you as a deeply concerned constituent to request that you VETO Senate Bill 153 which plans to unjustly attack our North Carolina immigrant communities. This bill will tear families apart, destabilize our neighborhoods, and create a culture of fear that goes against North Carolina's values to protect its' residents. Our undocumented community greatly contributes to this state's economy, culture, and overall well-being, and yet they are being left to suffer in silence without reassurance from our elected officials.
North Carolina must not be complicit in the harm inflicted on our undocumented community. We expect our elected leaders to speak up and take meaningful steps to ensure that all North Carolina residents—regardless of immigration status—feel safe and supported in their own state. As such, I am urging you to take action now by VETOING SB 153 and standing with the families who are living in fear. I look forward to your swift response and leadership on this urgent matter. Thank you.
