We must protect Medicaid and oppose the proposed cuts being considered in Congress. Medicaid provides vital health coverage to over 80 million low-income Americans, including children, pregnant women, people with disabilities, and older adults. Cutting this essential program would have devastating consequences, stripping millions of their access to affordable care and leaving our most vulnerable communities without a lifeline. We cannot sacrifice people's health and well-being for the sake of arbitrary budget targets. Medicaid plays a crucial role in supporting long-term care services that allow seniors and those with disabilities to live independently in their communities. It also covers crucial services not covered by Medicare, such as nursing home care. Reducing Medicaid funding would shift immense costs onto states, providers, and beneficiaries themselves, many of whom cannot afford increased out-of-pocket expenses. The proposed cuts are simply unacceptable and would undermine our nation's commitment to ensuring all Americans have access to quality, affordable healthcare regardless of their circumstances. I urge you to reject any efforts to cut or restructure Medicaid and instead work to strengthen and preserve this vital safety net program.
