I am writing to request that you initiate a comprehensive investigation into serious allegations raised in Matthew Cole's recently published book "Princes and Thieves: Jared Kushner and Mohammed Bin Zayed's Secret Plot to Remake the Middle East." These allegations demand urgent scrutiny from Congress and warrant a full examination of potential conflicts of interest, shadow diplomacy, and undisclosed financial arrangements involving former White House senior adviser Jared Kushner. Cole's investigation alleges that Kushner operated multiple undisclosed bank accounts funded by Middle Eastern leaders, including access to more than two billion dollars in what could easily be characterized as "slush money" from Saudi Arabia and the UAE. Most troubling, these accounts allegedly contained objectives that circumvented normal diplomatic channels for personal gain. Additionally, Cole reports that Russian intelligence successfully hacked Kushner's iPhone in 2017, potentially exposing classified national security information and sensitive financial records to foreign adversaries. At the same time, publicly reporting indicates that Kushner's company received a critical bailout for its financially troubled 666 Fifth Avenue property through a 1.1 billion dollar lease deal from Brookfield Asset Management in August 2018. The Qatar Investment Authority held a significant stake in Brookfield, raising serious questions about the timing and appropriateness of this arrangement. This bailout occurred shortly after Kushner actively opposed Qatar's interests in Middle Eastern diplomacy, leading to what many viewed as retaliatory U.S. policy. These facts collectively suggest a deeply troubling pattern: a White House official with extraordinary access and influence allegedly conducted undisclosed diplomatic activities while simultaneously benefiting financially from arrangements with the very foreign governments whose interests he was shaping American policy to serve. This represents a potential breach of the public trust and possible violations of federal law. I urge you to request that the appropriate congressional committees launch a thorough investigation into these allegations. The American people deserve to know whether our foreign policy was compromised by personal financial interests, and whether our national security was jeopardized by foreign intelligence access to a senior government official's private communications.
