Urgent Action Needed to Renew Health Care Premium Tax Credits

To: Sen. Scott, Rep. Castor, Sen. Moody

From: A verified voter in Saint Petersburg, FL

January 7

As your constituent, I am urging you to renew the health care premium tax credits that expired in December. Without these enhanced premium tax credits, health care will become unaffordable for millions of Americans. Many people will be forced to go without coverage altogether because families simply cannot absorb thousands of dollars in additional premium costs. People in our district work hard and pay their bills, yet the rising cost of health care continues to put coverage out of reach. This affects working families, young adults, self-employed individuals, and those approaching retirement alike. Premiums have risen faster than wages, leaving people at every stage of life struggling to afford basic care. In some states, household health insurance premiums are projected to increase by more than 30% this year. At a time when budgets are already stretched thin by housing, food, and other essentials, Americans cannot afford these kinds of increases. I am asking you to act quickly to renew these enhanced premium tax credits. As your constituent and as a voter, I will be watching closely to see what lawmakers do to protect access to affordable health care for people in our community.
