Oppose Gabbard's Concerning DNI Nomination Over National Security Concerns
To: Sen. Daines, Sen. Sheehy
From: A constituent in Butte, MT
February 12
I strongly oppose Tulsi Gabbard's nomination as Director of National Intelligence (DNI) due to her concerning track record and statements that call into question her judgment and ability to effectively lead our nation's intelligence agencies. Her past defense of authoritarian leaders like Bashar al-Assad and her echoing of Russian disinformation surrounding the invasion of Ukraine raise serious doubts about her commitment to defending American interests and values. Furthermore, her previous support for limiting surveillance authorities under Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and her refusal to condemn Edward Snowden as a traitor during her confirmation hearing are deeply troubling positions for someone nominated to lead our intelligence community. While she may have moderated some of these views, her history demonstrates a concerning pattern of alignment with adversarial nations over U.S. national security. The DNI plays a crucial role in ensuring the President and policymakers receive accurate, unvarnished intelligence assessments. Gabbard's concerning record undermines confidence in her ability to provide the objective, non-partisan leadership this position demands. For the sake of our national security, I urge you to vote against her confirmation. We need a DNI with unimpeachable credentials and an unwavering commitment to upholding American interests and values.
