The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are saying AG Bonta is in advanced settlement talks over the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger. It sounds like a terrible deal, with only nominal protection of CNN’s editorial independence. And as before, it’s preposterous that any studio is going to be making the number of movies Paramount claims - they’re playing in your face. Call on AG Bonta to reject any settlement and take this case to trial. The new tax credit that conveniently dropped today and the recent Council initiative to “Keep Hollywood Home”are no substitute for the death of the industry that any big merger portends.
