I’m writing to you not just as a voter and constituent, but as a mother, a homeowner, and a dedicated professional whose livelihood is now in immediate jeopardy. I work for one of America’s most iconic companies, a 125-year-old name in consumer goods. We’ve survived wars, recessions, and technological revolutions. But we will not survive this: a 104% tariff on goods from China. This tariff is not just a policy decision it’s a direct threat to jobs, businesses, and families. We simply cannot sustain or fulfill our customer orders with this tax burden. If it stands, my job and many others will be gone. I want to be clear: I agree with the sentiment behind bringing manufacturing back to the U.S. I believe in American industry. But we have to take a smarter path. We need to strengthen our domestic infrastructure first not burn the only bridge we currently have to keep products moving and companies alive. I also believe that former President Trump does not have the authority to implement a tariff of this magnitude unilaterally. Trade policy of this scale should not be dictated by one person alone it must involve Congress. You have the power and responsibility to step in and stop this. Please don’t remain silent while American workers are being sacrificed. I’ve worked hard to get where I am. I built my career without a college degree, rising through dedication and grit to become a product manager. I’m proud of what I’ve accomplished. But now, I’m facing the possibility of losing everything; my job, my home, and the ability to provide for my son, who depends on me every day. This tariff will not bring jobs back. It will only break the backs of companies that have already adapted and contributed to our economy responsibly. I urge you to take immediate action to rescind this tariff. American workers, companies, and families are counting on your leadership.
