Urgent concern regarding school funding for Cherry Creek Schools

To: Rep. Crow

From: A verified voter in Littleton, CO

April 24

I hope this email finds you well. I am reaching out to express my urgent concerns regarding the current state of school funding, particularly for Cherry Creek Schools, and the potential ramifications for our students and community within the Eaglecrest High School feeder area.   As an educator at Thunder Ridge Middle School, I firmly believe that funding for all school districts should adequately meet the needs of their students and communities. I understand that this may necessitate disproportionate funding for certain districts. However, the imminent risk of funding running out is alarming. If funding is not secured, many school districts across the state, including Cherry Creek Schools, will face detrimental cuts, directly impacting the quality of education our students receive.   While certain bills may offer short-term benefits, the absence of sustainable funding poses a grave threat to the future of Cherry Creek Schools. In the absence of secure funding, I anticipate severe consequences such as teacher and staff layoffs, pay freezes, larger class sizes, and diminished services for students. Such outcomes would undoubtedly hinder the academic and personal growth of our students.   Cherry Creek Schools, like all educational institutions in Colorado, deserve unwavering support and attention from our lawmakers. Every student, regardless of their background or ZIP code, deserves access to a high-quality education. It is imperative that our legislators prioritize the needs of our students and allocate adequate resources to ensure their success.   Furthermore, it is disheartening to note that Colorado consistently lags behind other states in terms of school funding. The current shortfall, with Colorado trailing the national average by $2000-$2500 per student per year, underscores the urgent need for action. Investing in education is an investment in the future of our state, and we urge you to take decisive steps to rectify this disparity.   We implore you to champion the cause of adequate school funding for Cherry Creek Schools and all educational institutions across Colorado. Our students' futures depend on it.   Thank you for your attention to this critical matter. We look forward to your support and action on behalf of our community and its students.
