The Oregon State University Open Source Lab (OSUOSL) faces an imminent $250,000 funding deficit that threatens its ability to support numerous open source projects. Without immediate action, it risks shutting down operations later this year, disrupting hosting, infrastructure, and development for critical projects like Gentoo, Fedora, Debian, and many others. As a constituent, I urge you to prioritize securing funding to sustain the OSUOSL's invaluable contributions to the open source ecosystem. Its services enable transformative innovations that benefit our state and communities. The lab also brings jobs to Oregon, such as the role of Linus Torvalds, the creator of Linux who lives in Oregon and continues to develop Linux which runs the majority of servers on the internet. Please take decisive steps to ensure the continuity of this vital initiative and the open source projects it supports.
