On Mar. 18, 2026, CBS News reported that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Internal Revenue Service (IRS) are forming “a new initiative to investigate nonprofit organizations over suspected possible links to domestic terrorism.” This comes after the issuance of the Dec. 4, 2025, Department of Justice (DOJ) memo, “Implementing National Security Presidential Memorandum-7: Countering Domestic Terrorism and Organized Political Violence.” The memo directed law enforcement agencies to prioritize investigation of “anti-fascist” actors who justify violence because of their views or those with “extreme viewpoints on immigration, radical gender ideology, and anti-American sentiment.” The directive also calls for the investigation and prosecution of extremist groups that defraud the IRS. Entities facing scrutiny and potential prosecution under this expanding domestic terrorism framework include those with the following: Views associated with anti-Americanism, anti-capitalism, and anti-Christianity; Support for the overthrow of the U.S. Government (USG); Extremism on migration, race, and gender; Hostility towards those who hold traditional American views on family, religion, and morality. Lets talk about the extreme hypocrisy in Trump designating people who defraud the IRS, and people who support the overthrow of the government as domestic terrorists, all while committing a lifetime of tax fraud and calling J6rs true American heros. Aside from that, this is an extremely dangerous precedent to put into place. Under the direction of our government, Trump's administration could consider people at a gay pride parade domestic terrorists. Senator Bernie Sanders, who is an advocate for putting a halt to unchecked capitalism could be labeled a domestic terrorist. Anyone who protests ICE detention centers could be labeled a domestic terrorists. People who hold a faith tradition that is not Christianity could be labeled as a domestic terrorist. Is this where we are headed as a country? My entire 41 years of life I have listened to our government justifying wars on countries that don't support our democratic values. We said it was oppression for a government to persecute the media, people who were gay, ethnic and religious minorities, etc.. Now these are the actions our government is embracing under Donald Trump. You must stop this before we live in a country where families and neighbors report each other for opinions or lifestyles that are allowed under our Constitution, but persecuted under a single administration.
