Fine Washington Leaders, I'm scared of the feds right now. I want to know how you're planning to protect our citizens from deportations, declarations that peaceful protest is "terrorism", and whatever new civil liberties violations the feds come up with. I'm scared for our immigrant communities, farm labor, trans kids and adults, and any foreign-born students who might dare to practice their right to peaceful protest. We need huge actions from you now - and the funding to protect all our citizens needs to come from all of our citizens thru income taxes. Having lived elsewhere, I'm blown away at the lack of income taxes (Chicago has state, city, and special city-issued parking stickers for residents - and emissions testing) - wa has none of that and we desperately need funds to actively protect, litigate, fund, and financially support those being targeted. I realize this is not typically the kind of huge funding and legislative ask done at the state level, but when the problem is federal, our state and locals have to help citizens and residents ourselves. I'm asking you for leadership - develop dramatic and innovative plans, fund them, and coordinate with our sister states and cities on emergency implementation. We need more of the gov's forethought he demonstrated by increasing AG staffing prior to inauguration, but we need it now throughout the state. We have the money and the need, we just need to get over ourselves and pass income taxes.
