End the Era of Secret Police: Support the VISIBLE Act Now
To: Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine
From: A constituent in Charlottesville, VA
July 11
I’m writing to urge you to fully support the VISIBLE Act of 2025 (S. 2212), introduced by Senators Padilla and Booker. This bill would require all immigration enforcement officers to wear visible identification and prohibit the use of face coverings that obscure their identities during operations. This is a basic matter of transparency and accountability.
Right now, ICE agents are showing up in our communities wearing tactical gear and masks, with no visible name tags or badges. This behavior is not only intimidating—it is a serious threat to civil liberties. It makes it impossible for people to verify who is entering their homes or stopping them on the street. No other law enforcement agency is allowed to operate this way.
Masked, unidentified agents have no place in a democratic society.
This practice must end immediately. I cannot overstate how deeply wrong and dangerous it is.
Please cosponsor and push hard for the passage of S. 2212.
