Oppose the SAVE America Act

To: Rep. Horsford, Sen. Rosen, Sen. Cortez Masto

From: A constituent in Las Vegas, NV

February 11

I urge you to oppose the SAVE America Act. Requiring documentary proof of citizenship to register creates unnecessary barriers for eligible voters without evidence of widespread noncitizen voting. Many Americans do not have passports, and obtaining certified birth certificates can require fees and travel, effectively placing a financial burden on exercising a constitutional right. I am also concerned that the bill does not clearly address name-change documentation. Voters who have legally changed their names should be able to present a birth certificate, current photo ID, and a marriage license or court order together. The lack of explicit language permitting this document chain creates uncertainty and risks disenfranchisement. Please protect both election integrity and voter access by voting no on this legislation.
