I am writing to express my strong opposition to H.R. 899, which proposes to terminate the Department of Education. As a constituent, I urge you to vote against this bill. Eliminating the Department of Education would have devastating consequences for our education system, particularly for vulnerable populations such as students with disabilities, military families, and low-income students. The department plays a critical role in ensuring equal access to quality education, and its dissolution would exacerbate existing educational disparities. Furthermore, the loss of federal funding would put a significant strain on our local schools, leading to reduced resources, increased class sizes, and diminished educational opportunities. This would not only harm our children's education but also undermine the long-term prosperity and competitiveness of our nation. I understand that the intention behind this bill may be to reduce federal involvement in education, but I firmly believe that this approach would be misguided and harmful. Instead, we should focus on strengthening our education system, improving teacher training, and increasing access to quality educational resources. I respectfully request that you oppose H.R. 899 and work towards finding solutions that support and enhance our education system, rather than dismantling it. I would appreciate it if you could also provide me with an update on your position regarding this bill. Thank you for your time and consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.
