Support Genuine Peace Talks — Remove Real Estate Developers from the Negotiating Table

To: Rep. Maloy, Sen. Lee, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

September 5

Real, lasting peace requires negotiators whose interests align with the people affected by conflict — not with profit margins and land acquisition. Putting real estate developers at the center of peace negotiations is a fundamental conflict of interest, and it poisons any chance of a credible outcome. Support genuine peace talks led by diplomats, community representatives, and independent mediators. Developers stand to gain financially from how territory is carved up, rebuilt, or rezoned after a deal is struck. That financial stake shapes every position they take at the table. Peace built on those terms isn't peace — it's a business arrangement dressed up as diplomacy, and the communities living through this conflict deserve better than that.
