Reject discriminatory anti-LGBTQ+ bill, uphold equality for all Arizonans

To: Sen. Sundareshan, Rep. Mathis, Rep. Gutierrez

From: A verified voter in Tucson, AZ

August 2

This proposed legislation seeks to narrowly define gender based solely on reproductive anatomy at birth, disregarding the complexity of gender identity and expression. Such rigid definitions fail to account for the diversity of human experience and promote discrimination against transgender and non-binary individuals. Moreover, prohibiting the collection of critical data on sexual orientation and gender identity would impede efforts to understand and address the unique challenges faced by LGBTQ+ communities, particularly youth. This could lead to cuts in vital support services. Classifying all individuals as strictly male or female is inherently exclusionary. I urge you to reject this bill and instead pursue policies that uphold equality, promote understanding, and protect the rights and wellbeing of all Arizonans, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation.
