Vote No on Todd Blanche's Confirmation as Attorney General
To: Sen. Gaetz
From: A constituent in Pensacola, FL
August 5
Vote no on Todd Blanche's confirmation as attorney general. He is Trump's personal defense lawyer — not a nominee who can lead an independent Department of Justice. Senator Whitehouse called him "probably the most discreditable person ever to seek the office of attorney general," and he's right.
The $1.8 billion slush fund Blanche championed — a taxpayer-funded payout to Trump loyalists, including January 6 defendants — isn't actually dead. Experts confirm Trump can revive it, and Trump himself said he'd push Congress to create it through legislation if Blanche's confirmation stalled. A written promise from the nominee means nothing when the underlying settlement still references the fund. Add to that his mishandling of the Epstein files, the prosecutions of protesters and political rivals, and the politically motivated case against James Comey over a seashell photo — this is not someone who should hold the nation's top law enforcement job. Vote no.
