The sudden call to engage in redistricting, seemingly at the beck and call of a President hellbent on authoritarian takeovers at the Federal level, seems an unbelievable affront to procedure, and the will of Missouri voters. Of course, this seems routine, the will of Missouri voters is regularly ignored by our elected officials. Two amendments, passed by the voters at margins well above those the national GOP seems to think constitute a mandate, are being ignored by the governor, and the legislature.
A third affront via redistricting (in a brazen attempt to insulate the Federal GOP from deserved backlash) is utterly criminal, akin to what one would expect to see in Banana Republics and other authoritarian governments.
Act with principle, and take redistricting off the agenda.
