Call out the administration’s blatant attempt to hurt the LGBTQ community

To: Rep. Wittman, Sen. Warner, Sen. Kaine

From: A constituent in Yorktown, VA

April 23

This decision to eliminate services for LGBTQ youth on the national suicide hotline is unconscionable. LGBTQ youth face disproportionately high rates of suicidal ideation and attempt due to societal discrimination and lack of support. Cutting this vital lifeline will put vulnerable young lives at grave risk. The leaked budget proposal reveals the administration's disturbing priorities - slashing funding for critical health and social services while targeting marginalized communities. LGBTQ youth deserve affirmative care from culturally competent counselors, not indifference to their suffering. I urge you to vehemently oppose these inhumane cuts that threaten the wellbeing and lives of LGBTQ youth. Safeguarding access to mental health resources for all, especially high-risk groups, should be a paramount concern. Let this unconscionable action galvanize an unwavering commitment to protecting our nation's youth irrespective of gender identity or sexual orientation.
