An Open Letter

I am writing to you not as a casual observer, but as a 30-year law enforcement officer who recognizes the early indicators of an operation long before the public does. The recent indictment of Raúl Castro is not occurring in a vacuum, and you know it. The pattern of escalation toward Cuba is deliberate, coordinated, and unmistakable. So I am putting the following questions to you directly, and I expect answers that are as clear as the stakes. 1. Has your caucus discussed, endorsed, or been briefed on any plan — formal or informal — that contemplates U.S. military involvement in Cuba? This is not a rhetorical question. The American public deserves to know whether their elected officials are laying the groundwork for another foreign entanglement under the guise of “pressure” or “accountability.” 2. Are you aware of any internal communications, committee briefings, or executive-branch signals indicating that the indictment of Raúl Castro is being used as a pretext for intervention? If so, you have an obligation to disclose that to your constituents. 3. Do you support or oppose any action — overt or covert — that would place American service members in harm’s way in Cuba? Your silence on this point would be an answer in itself. 4. What safeguards, if any, are you demanding to prevent this administration from manufacturing a crisis that leads to military escalation? You served. You know how quickly “posturing” becomes “deployment.” Right now, the administration’s conduct toward Cuba reflects a level of recklessness that should alarm anyone who has ever worn a badge or a uniform. If Congress is aware of a trajectory toward conflict and chooses not to intervene, that is not passive oversight — it is complicity. I am asking you these questions as a constituent, but also as someone who has spent three decades documenting facts, identifying patterns, and calling out misconduct when I see it. The American people deserve transparency before decisions are made that cannot be undone. I expect a direct, unambiguous response.
