Hi; I’m writing as a constituent from Prosperity, South Carolina, to ask you to sponsor legislation reforming the tax rules that restrict nonprofit advocacy. Under current law, 501(c)(3) charities that serve the public are penalized for substantial lobbying, while corporate and special-interest groups face far fewer limits. The First Amendment protects the right to petition the government, and that right should apply most strongly to the public itself. I ask you to introduce or support a bill that removes the lobbying restrictions on public-interest nonprofits while strengthening disclosure requirements for private and corporate lobbying. The public deserves the strongest voice in our democracy, not the weakest. Thank you for your time and service.
