Vote NO on the Budget

To: Sen. Grassley, Sen. Ernst

From: A verified voter in Charles City, IA

May 9

I’m writing to urge you to vote NO on the current budget bill. As a constituent concerned about the well-being of working families, I believe this legislation poses serious harm to the very people who keep our state and country running. This budget prioritizes tax breaks and corporate subsidies while cutting or underfunding essential programs that everyday Iowans depend on—such as affordable healthcare, food assistance, and public education. These are not luxuries—they are necessities for working-class families striving to get by in an economy where wages haven’t kept pace with costs. Slashing support for Medicaid, housing assistance, and nutritional programs like SNAP will leave vulnerable communities even more exposed. Meanwhile, large corporations continue to benefit from generous loopholes and defense spending increases that go largely unquestioned. Budgets are moral documents. They reveal our priorities. I ask you to put working families first—not wealthy donors or corporate interests. Please vote no on this bill, and demand a budget that strengthens the economic foundation for all Iowans, not just the privileged few.
