The current bill going to the senate from the house weakens the authority of the judicial branch to hold the executive branch in check if it ignores or defies judicial rulings. What will you do to amend this bill to prevent this dangerous change? You have communicated about Medicaid fraud. What evidence do you have of this fraud and how have you determined that the people who will lose their coverage have anything to do with the fraud? Investigations have always shown that Medicaid fraud is not from individuals—, for example, companies that provide transportation to dialysis would bill for many more visits than they actually performed. Obviously this was not the fault of any patients, who had no idea this was happening.
Medicaid expansion under the ACA has been one of the most successful programs to reduce poverty and poor health in the states that adopted it. There is absolutely no reason that Medicaid should be reduced other than to hand money to billionaires and to be cruel.
It is unconscionable to reduce SNAP—it would literally take food out of the mouths of children. Your constituents do NOT want that to happen.
Finally, I make about $60,000 a year and my taxes will go UP under this bill-as will the taxes of people making much less than me. For what? For tax breaks for the richest people who (a) don’t need them and (b) barely pay their taxes anyway.
The American people do NOT want this bill! This bill does NOTHING to prevent fraud. It is just cruel and is counter to the type of society we all want and need. So far this year everything that has been done in the name of “fraud” or “waste” has resulted in chaos, unemployment, harm to necessary programs, corruption (in the form of Elon Musk taking over government contracts), and MORE spending than in the previous year of the Biden administration.
Have a backbone. Vote for what is right! And please stop sending me form letters talking about the good things you’ve done. Talk about fraud.
