Please do not support the President threatening to shut down the government to force the banning of gender-affirming health care across the country. The attempt to ban gender-affirming health care or withhold federal funding from hospitals who refuse to stop practicing it is federal government overreach against the states power to regulate medical practices by state and is using financial coercion to do so. It is financial coercion to threaten a government shutdown if you don't get your way and it is financial coercion to threaten hospitals if you don't get your way. It is a financial threat against Americans across the country who rely on federally funded medical care and Americans who rely on a government paycheck. It is discrimination against trans Americans but will not only harm them, it will harm the entire country. It is government overreach and therefore unconstitutional but worse than that it is anti-American because it will hurt Americans either way. Please do not let the government shut down over this and do not let gender-affirming health care be threatened and weaponized to take federal funding away from hospitals and state-run programs Americans rely on across the country.
