Amend SAVE Act to protect voting rights for all citizens

To: Sen. Kim, Rep. Watson Coleman, Sen. Booker

From: A constituent in Pennington, NJ

April 10

The proposed SAVE Act aims to require proof of United States citizenship for voter registration in federal elections. However, the list of acceptable documents in the bill does not explicitly account for situations where individuals, particularly women, may have changed their name after marriage. This oversight could unjustly restrict eligible citizens from exercising their fundamental right to vote. While ensuring election integrity is important, any legislation in this area must not create discriminatory barriers that disenfranchise lawful voters. I vehemently urge you to critically re-examine the SAVE Act's documentary requirements and amend them to be fully inclusive of all eligible citizen voters, regardless of marital status or name changes.
