Oppose Cuts to Disability Compensation for 1.5 Million Veterans

To: Sen. Lee, Rep. Maloy, Sen. Curtis

From: A constituent in Salt Lake City, UT

July 11

Vote against any bill that cuts disability compensation for veterans. Veterans' organizations are sounding the alarm that up to 1.5 million veterans could see their benefits reduced if this legislation moves forward. These are people who were injured serving this country — cutting their compensation isn't a budget fix, it's a betrayal. Disability compensation isn't a handout. It's what we promised people who sacrificed their health in uniform. If Congress can't find savings without breaking that promise, it needs to look elsewhere. I expect you to block this bill and make clear that veterans' earned benefits are off the table.
