Please stand strong in the fight for the ACA!
To: Sen. Booker, Sen. Kim
From: A constituent in Bridgewater, NJ
November 10
Last Tuesday, I and millions of other American voters unequivocally rejected Republican candidates and proposals in a landslide election, far exceeding anyone’s expectations. I was elated to see, and to have been a part of, these inspiring results. For the first time in 2025, I actually felt hopeful for the future of our country. But in the back of my mind, a little voice was saying “it’s too good to be true. Lucy is gonna pull the football away like always. Someone is going to find a way to mess this up. Someone always does.”
It didn’t take long, apparently. I am now hearing reports that some Senate Democrats are considering an agreement with the GOP to end the shutdown in return for a “promise” to vote on the extension of the ACA subsidies that have been the central reason for the shutdown.
I desperately hope that you are not one of those considering this “deal”. We have the most momentum we’ve had all year. The American public just made it inescapably clear that we want Democrats to fight for our interests against the kleptocracy. If your party is seriously going to respond to all this - the massive No Kings protests, the unmistakable shift of public sentiment, the absolute beatdown we just delivered to the Guardians Of Pedophiles - by folding, then the American public can only assume that the Democratic Party must be in on the grift. And that, sadly, we may need to look elsewhere for someone to represent our interests.
DO NOT FOLD. And if your colleagues are considering folding, please do whatever you need to do to stop them from folding. Stay strong and keep fighting for working Americans, and we will have your back. Cave to the kleptocrats, and we will vote you out.
