Continue the ACA with existing subsidies

To: Sen. Scott, Sen. Moody, Rep. Salazar

From: A constituent in Miami, FL

November 17

Please just continue the Affordable Care Act as is - with today’s subsidies - for a year. I am extremely concerned that people (if priced out of the market or otherwise) will be tempted to go with “junk plans” that will not serve them or -worse- will go without health insurance. For the common good, keeping the ACA as is (warts and all) is necessary at this point. As you know the ACA requires that there be no disqualification for pre-existing condition and no lifetime max. And it includes 10 essential benefits: Remember Obamacare? Under the ACA, plans have to include 10 essential benefits: TEN ESSENTIAL HEALTHCARE BENEFITS under Obamacare (ACA) 1. Ambulatory patient services (outpatient services) 2. Emergency services 3. Hospitalization 4. Maternity and newborn care 5. Mental health and substance use disorder services, including behavioral health treatment 6. Prescription drugs 7. Rehabilitative and habilitative services (those that help patients acquire, maintain, or improve skills necessary for daily functioning) and devices 8. Laboratory services 9. Preventive and wellness services and chronic disease management 10. Pediatric services, including oral and vision care
