An Open Letter

To: Rep. Salahuddin, Rep. Walen, Sen. Slatter

From: A verified voter in Kirkland, WA

I’m writing as a constituent from your district to urge you to act quickly to pass Governor Bob Ferguson’s legislation prohibiting ICE officers and other federal agents from wearing masks while carrying out enforcement actions in Washington State. Masked officers conducting arrests or surveillance in our communities undermine public trust and safety. Washingtonians have a right to see and know who is exercising government authority, especially in matters as serious as immigration enforcement. This policy is about accountability, transparency, and preserving the rule of law in our state. I strongly support this bill and ask that you help move it forward without delay. It feels like it’s being slow, walked and I would’ve expected. It would’ve been prioritized as the number one legislation to pass. You see what’s happening in Minnesota and we could definitely be next. Thank you for representing our shared values of fairness, justice, and government transparency.
