An Open Letter
To: Sen. Hawley
From: A constituent in Festus, MO

I am extremely disappointed in your tweeted comments regarding the "No Kings" protesters. You are sadly mistaken about Democrats, Independents, and even Republicans who made their way out in the pouring rain and thunderstorms in Missouri and across the entire country to protest the tyranny from the current administration.
First of all, no Democratic president has ever unilaterally violated people’s constitutional rights like is happening right now to immigrants across this country, and to people exercising their First Amendment rights. That is your guy.
None has ever sent the National Guard to patrol the streets of cities run by Republicans in spite of the objections of Governors. That is your guy.
None has ever sicced the FCC on networks because they didn’t like the way they were covered. That is your guy.
None has ever ignored the Emoluments Clause and made billions while occupying the White House. Accepting a jet from Qatar, then out of the blue, announcing a Qatari Air Force Base on U.S. soil reeks of corruption. That is your guy.
None has ever publicly (or privately) directed their Attorney General to prosecute those that they felt wronged them by simply investigating their actions. That is your guy.
If a Democratic President was ever to do a fraction of these things, we would be out there protesting them too! These actions are so out of the norm for anyone leading this country and the way your party just allows him to continue to do it is a disgrace.
Your tweet and your actions with regard to the shattering of the rule of law are so out of touch with reality, that I am starting to question your mental acuity.
You are a Senator, an attorney, and a father. Do better! You owe it to the state and this country.
