Qatar’s proposed “gift” to the president violates the Constitution
To: Sen. Moody, Rep. Luna, Sen. Scott

I am deeply concerned over reports that President Trump is planning to accept a plane valued at $400 million as a “gift” from the government of Qatar. This appears to be a flagrant violation of the Constitution’s Emoluments Clause, which our founding fathers put in place to prohibit federal officials—certainly including the sitting President—from accepting gifts or benefits from foreign states without Congressional consent.
Such a gift raises serious questions about foreign influence, conflicts of interest, and the erosion of constitutional safeguards. It is, plainly, a form of bribery that threatens our democracy and national security.
I urge you to take immediate and public action to investigate this matter and outline what steps you will take to prevent such violations and ensure accountability.
