What is being done about ICE in Minneapolis and Portland?

To: Sen. Curtis, Rep. Owens, Sen. Lee

From: A verified voter in Springville, UT

February 4

I’m writing to ask what concrete actions you are taking regarding ongoing federal enforcement conflict and instability in cities like Minneapolis and Portland. Recent reporting shows armed federal immigration operations in Minneapolis, including agents drawing guns and arresting activists following enforcement vehicles, alongside large-scale raids and continuing protests. Meanwhile, Portland is still dealing with federal enforcement tensions, shootings linked to federal operations, and ongoing protest activity. Given that these situations have been ongoing since mid-2025, why has there not been a clearer, measurable plan from Congress to resolve these conflicts, protect public safety, and reduce escalation between federal agencies, local governments, and communities? Please explain what you are doing right now to address these issues and what outcomes you expect.
