Uphold the Constitution. Only Congress has the power to declare war!

To: Rep. Wilson, Sen. Graham, Sen. Scott

March 2

I'm writing to remind you and your colleagues today that it is your sworn duty to uphold the Constitution. The Constitution clearly states in Article 1 Section 8 that only Congress can declare war. Please condemn this illegal war with Iran and immediately begin proceedings to hold Trump accountable to Congress and the American people for his illegal actions. He believes he isn't beholden to the constitution, and if you want the people of South Carolina to believe you are still a supporter of the rule of law and the constitution, you will NOT support this president's illegal actions. We have already lost service members to this war, which doesn't even seem to have a stated objective. The human toll on American lives, the lives of our allies, and of innocent Iranian civilians will only grow. There will also be a huge monetary toll as we dump massive amounts of money into yet another open ended war. Americans are struggling with the cost of housing, medical care, and food costs, and yet our tax dollars won't go towards helping with those problems now. We did not choose this. This war is already, and will continue to be, grossly unpopular with the average American, and you will see that in the midterms.
