Reject unconstitutional assault on judicial independence, separation of powers
To: Justices Court
From: A constituent in Portland, OR
May 8
The lawsuit filed by the group America First Legal represents a blatant and unconstitutional attempt to undermine the separation of powers and judicial independence enshrined in our nation's founding documents. Their claim that the Judicial Conference and Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts are executive branch agencies subject to presidential control is not only legally baseless but poses a grave threat to the system of checks and balances that has preserved our democracy for over two centuries. The Judicial Conference and Administrative Office play crucial roles in maintaining an impartial and well-functioning federal judiciary, as established by Congress under its constitutional authority. Bringing these bodies under the control of the executive branch would severely compromise the independence of the courts and open the door for political interference in the administration of justice. We must vehemently reject this brazen power grab and uphold the separation of powers that is the bedrock of our constitutional republic. The courts must remain a co-equal branch of government, free from undue influence or control by the executive or legislative branches. This lawsuit represents a dangerous assault on our democratic principles and must be swiftly dismissed to preserve the integrity of our judicial system.
