Oppose Senate Bill 1009. Removal of the current ban on hardened structures along our coast will not achieve the goal of protecting coastal property but will harm our beaches and the natural systems along our coast. Reshaping our coast to have a series of jetties in the style of the Jersey Shore or seawalls in the style of places in Florida will despoil our beaches, pick winners and losers in terms of property protection, harm wildlife. These losses will likely negatively affect tourism by visitors and residents alike. Oppose SB 1009.
