I am writing to you to ask you to please not allow Hakeem Jeffries to become speaker of the house. Rep. Jeffries has already made it clear he plans to stick to the establishment demands and has no desire to move forward with what the people are looking for. Rep. Jefrries has already gone on TV and announced that the party will not be focusing on accountability, but instead affordability. To be frank it is apparent that Rep. Jeffries is unable to read the room. The blue wave we saw was not simply because people want affordability. This is not business as usual. We have unfortunately been swept up into the Trump era where fascism, and constitutional crisis's are rampant. American citizens were murdered in the streets by ICE officials. As Americans grow poorer, Trump has enriched himself and his family throughout his entire term. Many people switched and voted blue for this first time because they were disgusted and infuriated and they want something done. They want Trump and his administration to finally answer for his crimes. Do we want affordability as well? Of course. But we need to focus on the fact that finally in this fascist regimen we have hope to hold those in power accountable. Too long have Trump and his allies been able to hide behind lies and his protective field. We need action and accountability. We do not need business as usual and if Rep. Jeffries does not seem to see that, then party leadership must change. If not the tide will shift again as Republicans will once again begin to make promises and hold this against us.
