Election Denial Safeguards & Congressional Accountability

To: Sen. Scott, Rep. Moskowitz, Sen. Moody

From: A constituent in Pompano Beach, FL

December 19

I am writing as a constituent to request your specific plan and legislative commitments for responding to attempts by any government official or member of Congress to deny legitimate election outcomes. I am particularly concerned about the potential misuse of Article I, Section 5 of the U.S. Constitution, which grants each chamber authority to judge elections and qualifications of its members, including decisions regarding seating. Please state clearly: 1. What evidentiary standards and procedural safeguards you believe must be met before a duly elected and certified member may be refused seating. 2. How you will personally act if members of your own party attempt to defy court-validated election results or disenfranchise voters. 3. Whether you will commit to sponsoring or supporting “break-glass” democracy safeguard legislation with automatic trigger provisions activated when a final court order is defied, lawful election certification is obstructed, or a certified representative is refused seating absent constitutional justification. 4. Whether you support reforms to clarify and limit the use of Article I, Section 5 to prevent partisan abuse. I am requesting a written response outlining your plan and legislative commitments, not a general statement of values.
