Congress must stop the Trump administration's illegal restructuring of the US Forest Service. The White House is forcing workers to relocate or resign, closing all regional offices, and replacing them with just 15 Trump-appointed state directors. This violates the law and the Constitution, and you have the power to block it.
The Forest Service manages 193 million acres of public land. The agency has already lost more than a quarter of its full-time workforce, including as many as 1,400 wildfire-certified employees. Moving headquarters to Salt Lake City, consolidating 57 research facilities into a single Colorado site, and shutting down regional offices will cripple the agency's ability to protect our forests and respond to wildfires.
Steve Lenkart, executive director of the National Federation of Federal Employees representing 20,000 Forest Service workers, has called out Congress for allowing this constitutional violation to proceed unchecked. Our public lands will pay the price if you don't act. Use your oversight authority to halt this restructuring immediately and restore the agency's capacity to do its job.
