I am writing to express my profound dismay over President Donald Trump’s treatment of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky during their February 28, 2025, meeting. His dismissive and disrespectful behavior, along with Vice President J.D. Vance’s criticism, undermines our commitment to Ukraine and weakens U.S. credibility on the world stage.
President Zelensky has repeatedly expressed gratitude for American support and has every right to demand meaningful security guarantees before entering peace talks. By berating him and abruptly ending their meeting, President Trump jeopardizes our alliances and emboldens adversaries like Russia. European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron and NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg, have reaffirmed their support for Ukraine, highlighting the reckless nature of Trump’s actions.
Democrats alone cannot stop this behavior. We need Republicans to stand up for democracy and hold the administration accountable. Silence is complicity. This is not about partisanship but about preserving American leadership and democratic values.
As my representative, I urge you to reaffirm our support for Ukraine and push back against actions that weaken our alliances. The U.S. must lead with integrity, respect, and strength.
