Major corporations have profited immensely from activities that emit greenhouse gases and accelerate climate change, while largely avoiding responsibility for the resulting environmental degradation and costs to society. A fair solution is to establish a Polluters Pay Climate Fund requiring contributions from major fossil fuel companies based on their historic emissions levels. This fund would provide vital resources for clean energy development and climate mitigation efforts. Holding polluters financially accountable not only upholds the principle that those responsible should pay for damages caused, but also incentivizes companies to transition towards more sustainable practices. We must take decisive action to make polluters pay their fair share and invest in solutions that protect our planet for future generations.
