I am writing as your constituent to ask why our state has not enacted stronger laws limiting foreign ownership of agricultural land and strategically important property, especially when many other states have already done so. North Carolina has a strong agricultural economy and a large amount of valuable farmland, yet we appear to have comparatively few safeguards in place. I believe this issue deserves serious attention from the General Assembly. I ask you to support legislation that would limit the total acreage that can be foreign-owned, as in Pennsylvania, Iowa and Wisconsin, drastically restricting ownership of agricultural land by any foreign corporate or state-controlled entities; Thank you for your time and service to our community. I look forward to your response.
