Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a longtime Maryland resident and father of three, was unlawfully deported to a notorious prison in El Salvador despite a U.S. immigration judge's ruling that he should remain in the country. Even after the Supreme Court deemed his deportation unlawful, the Trump administration and Salvadoran President Nayib Bukele have refused to comply and bring him home. Kilmar is one of over 250 immigrants deported without due process as part of a secretive $6 million deal between the Trump administration and Bukele's government to funnel immigrants into Salvadoran prisons under the false label of "gang affiliation." Kilmar is now indefinitely detained at CECOT prison, infamous for inhumane conditions where torture and cruel treatment occur. This deportation scheme outsources human rights abuses abroad using taxpayer dollars. Kilmar's case exemplifies the Trump administration's disregard for due process and human rights. His unlawful deportation must be rectified immediately by complying with the Supreme Court ruling and bringing him home to his family in the United States.
