Protect American farmers and businesses

To: Rep. DeLauro

From: A constituent in West Haven, CT

November 6

Please VOTE NO on any proposed language to redefine hemp, effectively banning this uniquely American industry. A hemp ban will lead to the collapse of a growing U.S. industry, taking away consumer choices, killing jobs, and punishing farmers. The hemp industry has grown and is thriving despite a constant threat of bans, misinformation and confusion. The future of the $28.4 Billion hemp industry –the farmers, veterans, small business owners, individual consumers, and the 328,000 employees - lies in the hands of Congress. Instead of legislation to ban hemp, please focus on responsible regulations that will keep American consumers safe: − Restrict the sale and possession of hemp products to adults over age 21 − Mandate manufacturing practices and independent third-party laboratory testing to ensure safety − Uniform labeling that empowers consumers to make informed choices − Packaging standards to eliminate “look-a-likes" that confuse adults and attract minors Thank you for standing up for hemp!
