I am writing to express my grave concern regarding President Donald J. Trump’s continued disregard for our Constitution and the rule of law during his second term. Most urgently, I call on you to initiate impeachment proceedings due to his unambiguously unconstitutional order to launch a military attack on Iran without congressional authorization.
The Constitution clearly grants Congress—not the President—the power to declare war. President Trump's unilateral decision to direct American forces against Iran, without any congressional debate or approval, is a violation of the War Powers Resolution and the Constitution itself. This blatant breach endangers American lives, destabilizes international relations, and erodes the checks and balances at the core of our republic.
Regrettably, this is not an isolated offense in President Trump’s second term. His ongoing conduct has raised further alarm and demonstrates a continued pattern of criminal and unconstitutional behavior, including but not limited to:
-Abuse of executive power to order political investigations of perceived opponents, using federal resources for personal gain;
-Ongoing attempts to obstruct congressional oversight, including ignoring lawful subpoenas and refusing to cooperate with legitimate investigations into his administration's actions;
-Failure to divest from personal business interests, leading to credible reports of potential violations of the Emoluments Clause and profiteering from foreign and domestic powers during his current term.
The events of this second term prove that President Trump holds no regard for the constitutional limits of his office. Allowing such conduct to continue without clear and forceful response from Congress sets a terrible precedent for future administrations.
Therefore, I urge you to uphold your oath to defend the Constitution. President Trump must be held accountable for his unconstitutional military aggression against Iran and for the additional serious offenses committed during his second term. I implore you to act swiftly and decisively to protect our democracy and the rule of law.
Thank you for your urgent attention to this matter.
