As a constituent and a registered voter in your district, I am writing to urgently request that you vote to strip Section 224 from the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2026, or vote against any final package that includes this provision.
Section 224 establishes an unnecessarily deep, formalized integration between the United States military and the Israeli Defense Forces. At a time of intense volatility in the Middle East with a belligerent army that has been invading it's neighbors, embedding our defense infrastructure so explicitly with a foreign military risks national security and entangling United States personnel and resources in foreign conflicts without independent congressional oversight or a clear strategy for regional de-escalation.
Furthermore, a growing number of Americans across the political spectrum are deeply concerned by the current actions of Israel and the IDF. Public opinion has shifted significantly on Israel, with millions of citizens urging our government to prioritize diplomatic solutions, humanitarian aid, and stricter oversight regarding foreign military assistance to Israel. Codifying deeper integration into our baseline defense budget directly contradicts the calls for restraint and transparency being made by your constituents.
Our national security policy should protect American interests, maintain strategic flexibility, and reflect the values of the public. Deepening military integration right now with a foreign nation sends the wrong signal and binds U.S. defense policy to foreign objectives that do not align with a peaceful or stable regional outlook.
I strongly urge you to stand up for accountability, listen to the concerns of your constituents, and vote NO on Section 224 of the NDAA. Thank you for your time, your leadership, and your consideration of this critical matter.
