The proposed SAVE Act creates an unnecessary burden for many eligible citizens to exercise their constitutionally protected right to vote. By requiring documentary proof of citizenship beyond what is already mandated, the law would disenfranchise numerous citizens whose documentation may not precisely align with the stringent criteria. This includes women who have changed their names upon marriage, as well as others whose documentation does not match for various legitimate reasons. Such a law undermines the integrity of our elections by creating additional barriers to voter participation. I urge you to reject this legislation and uphold the fundamental right of all qualified citizens to vote without undue restrictions.
