Vote NO on S1095- it ignores evidence based strategies and dehumanizes women

To: Sen. Bennett, Gov. McMaster, Rep. Gatch

From: A verified voter in Summerville, SC

April 18

I want to share why I do not support S1095, the abortion-focused bill in the SC Senate. On face value, this bill appears to offer protection for unborn human life, yet on closer scrutiny it clearly dehumanizes women and ignores the complicated circumstances they face in pregnancy. As someone who has seen friends go through miscarriages, preeclampsia, IVF treatment, ectopic pregnancies, and sexual assault, we need legislation that looks carefully at the real situations women face. Bills like S1095 ignore compassionate nuance and evidence-based strategies that lower abortion rates. Instead, this bill relies on performative posturing to enforce coercive tactics and punitive consequences. S1095 will not benefit our community.
