Support the Secure Growth Initiative's Immigration Reform Framework
To: Rep. Pelosi
From: A constituent in San Francisco, CA
January 26
Dear Representative,
I urge you to support the immigration reform principles outlined by the Secure Growth Initiative (https://securegrowthinitiative.com/), a coalition representing over 300,000 small businesses advocating for a practical alternative to mass deportation.
The current immigration enforcement expansion—with ICE's budget tripling to $28.7 billion this year and plans to detain 100,000 people daily—is creating economic devastation for American businesses and communities while separating families and causing preventable suffering. Deaths in ICE custody have reached their highest levels in decades.
The Secure Growth Initiative offers a better path forward:
—Border security and targeted enforcement: Secure the border and prioritize deportation of individuals with violent criminal records after due process—not mass raids that terrorize communities and separate families.
—Workforce solutions: Create comprehensive visa programs addressing labor needs across industries, recognizing that millions of undocumented workers are essential to our economy.
—Earned legal status: Replace mass deportation with a pathway requiring restitution, criminal background checks, and payment of outstanding taxes—allowing people to get right with the law while keeping families together.
—Government accountability: Hold the federal government responsible for economic losses caused by enforcement policies that destroy businesses and destabilize communities.
Small businesses are the backbone of our economy, and they're telling us that current immigration crackdowns threaten their survival. This framework offers economic security while upholding the rule of law—without the violence and family separation inherent in mass deportation.
I ask you to publicly endorse these principles and work toward legislation that implements this common-sense approach.
Thank you for your consideration.
